Moving away from Home is something we
all do at one point in our life.
In a month I am moving away from my home for
the first time. And I am not just moving to
a different city I am moving to
a different Country.
Fantasying about moving to another country, to a big
City, learning another language, meeting new
people re-defying your self and actually making that decision, taking everything
into account that comes whit that is two
very different things.
As a teen, I always fantasied about moving far from home. Making it on my
own. Dreamed about what it would be to live in
a big city. The Nightlife, opportunities that
a bigger more
advanced country could offer me. Now
that I am 25 and actually about to leave home
and go into the unknown, scars me.
Now that I finish college am don white my internship and got my license I am
ready to finally start living my life how I want it! So moving to
GERMANY it is!
Before I decided on the
City I had to decide is MOVING actually
worth it?
To find out the answer to
that question I decided to use the old bud everyone
favorite Pros and Cones List.

My Pros and Cons of moving :
PROS FOR MOVING
1. Fresh start
- If you want to start from the beginning, moving is the right move for you. Lear from your past and now do. Yourself, no problem.
- New day, New City new page. Sometimes having a clean slate and starting from the scratch can be a good thing, therapeutic even.
2. Job
- Living on your own means you are going to need income. To have regular income you need a job. Luckily there are all kinds of job opportunities out there in this day and age, and don’t be afraid to try something new, you never know maybe you’re amazing in it 😉
3. Education
- Whether you want to continue your own education at a different collage or try new workshops. The city means new opportunities to learn something new.
4. New City
Everything will be new and exciting. And it’s going to be weeks you are done with discovering the city. Just think of all the bars, clubs, museums etc. That you are about to discover. One thing is for sure, you won’t be bored.

5. New people
- A New City means a new city vibe and social circle. You will have new neighbors, new colleagues and will have the chance to make new friends, start new relationships.
These new connections will have an impact on your life and may even define who you are going to be.
6. Personal growth
- Taking the and moving away, immersing yourself in a new environment it will broaden your horizons and do wonders for your self-awareness. It will force you to get out of your comfort zone into the unknown without the safety net of your friends and family. It will make you stronger, more resilient, and more self-reliant than ever before.
- Encountering different lifestyles, points of view and cultural practices will give you the knowledge of the world that you didn’t have before and it will make you a more tolerant and open-minded person.
Moving to another city will give you the chance to start fresh. Meet new people, experience new things, grow as a and create a better life for yourself
CONS FOR MOVING:
1. Language
- If you wont to live in a foreign Country and become a proper member of its society you need to learn its official language. You are going to need it to get a job, deal with the authorities and for the simple things like shopping.
- Which means taking a language course if you don’t already speak the language but even if you do you are going to need to invest some time and money into taking the B2 language test. As of last Year, most Firms require from you to have a B2 level or higher.
2. Family and Friends
- Moving means leaving your family and friends. Not everyone wants to move and just because it might be the right thing for you does not mean it is for the others even if there is nothing else you would rather than to bring them all with you. I know I would in a heartbeat. I keep offering everybody to just move with me. 😉
- Leaving your comfort zone is scary. Knowing you can’t just make plans to see each other whenever you want or need. Leaving them, missing birthdays, graduations, engagements and other big and small thing is hard.
3. Bureaucracy and the Low
- Living in another Country means following their rules. Doing thing the whey their government said it. So learn in. And prepare yourself you are going to need a lot of patience and money.
4. Being alone

- If you are moving alone without knowing anybody in the new city it’s going to be tough for a while.
- We, Humans, are social creatures so by being alone even for a short period can be hard for us. So be prepared and wiling to put your self out there. Making new friends is, well annoying. You don’t know them they don’t know you and some times it just doesn’t click. But don’t give up.
- You can make new friends at your new workplace or by joining a gym or any of Language class is another great way to met new people that also moved to the city dis way you can discover it and help out. Facebook, events
5. Costs
- You are going to be spending a lot at first. First on the on all the papers you are going to need just to be to move, then the translation (it needs to be done by), fees at the city institutions and down payment (its 3 months rent), new things … Travel costs family and friends in the future and maintaining that bond is going to not just time planning but money back and fort cheap.
